Skincare Toxins


I’ve put together a handy little guide of 15 most common, nasty, toxic chemicals that you might want to avoid when choosing skincare.

This is a brief list of harmful ingredients to look out for in your products. Very handy to save and cross reference as and when needed!

Things to check for on your labels: 👇

  1. Parabens AKA methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, thylparaben
  2. Phthalates AKA diethylphthalate, monoethyl
  3. Formaldehyde AKA formic aldehyde,
    methanethiol
  4. Fragrance/parfum
  5. Mineral Oil AKA paraffinum, liquidum petrolatum, cera microcristallina, microcrystalline wax, ozokerite, ceresin paraffin, paraffin, synthetic wax
  6. Butylated Hydroxytoluene AKA BHT
  7. Aluminium AKA aluminum, aluminum zirconium, tetrachlorohydrex GLY, aluminum chlorohydrate
  8. PEGs AKA poly(ethylene oxide), poly(oxyethylene).
  9. Siloxanes AKA Cyclopentasiloxane
  10. Triclosan AKA hydroxy diphenyl ether
  11. Plastic micro-beads AKA polyethylene (PE),
    polyethylene terephthalate (PET), nylon (PA), polypropylene (PP), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
  12. Ethanolamines AKA monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), or triethanolamine (TEA).
  13. Chemical Sunscreens AKA Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Homosalate
  14. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate/ Sodium Laureth Sulfate AKA SLS, SLES
  15. Talc

If you see these ingredients it’s best to pop it back on the shelf or bin it! 🗑️👍🏼
