Rethinking Blood Pressure: Is it a Disease or a Signal?🧠💓💊

(Disclaimer: This is for informational purposes only and not medical advice. I am not a pharma-trained cardiologist, just someone inviting deeper questions.)

We’ve been told for decades that 120/80 is the “gold standard” for blood pressure.

But what if that number isn’t based on true human physiology… but on pharmaceutical profit?

Here’s how the pattern often unfolds:

1️⃣ Create a disease out of a natural variation.
2️⃣ Lower the diagnostic thresholds.
3️⃣ Medicate the marker (not the root cause).

Enter the trifecta of blood drugs: ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, and beta blockers.

These meds can interfere with:
– Mineral balance
– Blood sugar control
– Oxygen flow to the brain

And long-term use may contribute to:
🧬 Type 2 Diabetes
🧠 Type 3 Diabetes (Alzheimer’s/dementia)
🫀 And the “need” for statins (based on the now-questioned cholesterol hypothesis)

🔍 So what is normal blood pressure?

✅ Systolic = 110 + half your age (this accounts for natural vascular stiffness with age)
✅ Diastolic = below 100 (if elevated, consider kidney/liver function—not just meds)

BP isn’t a fixed number—it’s a dynamic reflection of: – Nervous system balance
– Breathing pattern
– Sleep quality
– Hydration & minerals
– Emotional state
– Posture & movement

📚 Key Studies:

  1. JAMA Internal Medicine (2018)
Study of 38,000 low-risk individuals with mild hypertension found no reduced risk of death or heart attack from meds—only higher risk of kidney damage and fainting.
  2. JAMA Review (2017)
Meta-analysis of 74 trials (300,000+ people) found no mortality benefit from lowering systolic BP under 140 mmHg in healthy people.
  3. BMJ (2009) – Too Much Treatment?
Notes the “medicalisation of risk factors” and overtreatment of mild hypertension.
  4. Cochrane Review (2012)
In people with mild hypertension (BP <160/100), drug treatment showed no benefit for heart disease, stroke, or death—only more side effects.

💭 What if high blood pressure is a signal, not a disease?
A sign to nourish the nervous system, support detox organs, and realign with circadian and emotional rhythms?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are we treating symptoms and missing the message?
